PAIRWN is committed to celebrating the rich cultural heritage of our communities while honoring our differences and similarities. By teaching ourselves to value and understand our own cultures, we learn the most important lessons of leadership: self-esteem, tolerance, and collaboration. Since our beginning, we have celebrated unity by hosting several diversity events, such as our annual holiday Luncheon. Several hunded people attend the luncheon, enjoying ethnic foods, traditional music and dance, along with presentations by individual members on the history and culture of their groups. Members of PAIRWN volunteer their time and ideas to make these events successful.

This year, PAIRWN is partnering with the US Census 2010 to share the voices and needs of immigrants and refugees in Pennsylvania!
Taking part in the census is an important way to make sure the needs of you and your family are heard and included. Census data helps to decide how over $400 billion in funding is spent on resources including hospitals, job training centers, schools, roads, and emergency services. Participation in the census is mandatory.

PAIRWN thanks the sponsors of its 2010 Unity in Diversity Gala, including Hershey Entertainment and Resorts!
The PAIRWN Gala is an annual fundraising event feature live entertainment, auction, and international foods. All proceeds directly benefit immigrants and refugees in Central PA. Entertainment feature music and dance from around the world. Silent auction features one-of-a-kind, handmade, international craftwork by PAIRWN members and a range of donations from local businesses.
During the gala, PAIRWN announces its annual Compass Awards recognizing women who have made a positive difference in the lives of immigrants and refugees in Pennsylvania.

Annual Celebrating the Holidays with Diversity Luncheon

Our Annual Luncheon is a well-attended event held to celebrate together the diversity of winter holidays and enjoy time together with our local communities. Enjoy a holiday dance and music performance from local groups as well as a potluck luncheon and gifts for the children!
Children's Holiday Gift Drive
PAIRWN runs gift drives at local businesses each fall to gather gifts for children who attend our Annual Celebrating the Holidays with Diversity Lunch in December. We will provide boxes for "Donation Stations" and pick-up gifts at a time convenient for your business. Please contact us for more information!
Youth Activities Program and the Youth Immigrant and Refugee Women's Group
Our goal is to motivate the youth to become involved with the community while preserving their own heritage and culture. Through providing them the opportunity to volunteer in various activities organized by PAIRWN and other community agencies, we hope to build their self-esteem and teach them about responsibility.
Senior Outings
Because of language and cultural barriers, elderly immigrants and refugees are often isolated from society. Our aim is to create a supportive environment for these elderly to bond with each other through different social events.
At the same time, these events provide the opportunity for youth to be more involved with the elderly and thus bridge the generational and cultural gaps that often exist in immigrants' families.
Our recent events include trips to the Whitaker Center IMAX Cinema, Longwood Garden, and Hershey Chocolate World, and a Senior Games Night!
