Past interns have greatly enjoyed their time with us and have learned many wonderful skills from their experiences with PAIRWN.
“I interned at PAIRWN while studying to get my MPH and it was a deeply enriching and formative experience. Not only did I meet wonderful and inspiring women from all over the world, but it taught me important lessons about humility, open-mindedness, diligence, and leadership”
Deepa 2026 – Penn State college of Medicine
“Interning with PAIRWN has been a meaningful experience that helped build my technical and creative skills. As a communications student, I gained greater experience in social media strategy and website development. Working alongside an organization that serves immigrant and refugee women taught me to shape how I think about storytelling and who it’s for. I am leaving this internship not just with a stronger portfolio, but with a deeper sense of purpose about the kind of communicator I want to be.”
Jharna Summer 2026 – Penn State Harrisburg
“Being an intern with PAIRWN was a really wonderful experience. I learned a great deal about how non-profit organizations are run and how people work together on different programs. As an intern I aided in many projects for PAIRWN, and even had the opportunity to work with other individuals to come up with ideas for new programs. From this internship I gained a broader understanding of issues faced by immigrants and refugees in the Harrisburg area. I also acquired many professional skills that can be used in almost any career field.
Rachel – Fall 2013
For example, I was challenged to become better at presenting myself professionally and became more confident with public speaking by being a representative of the organization. It was not only fulfilling to be able to be part of an organization that helps others in need, but it was also satisfying to be challenged and to grow as a professional.
One of my favorite parts about the internship was building relationships with the different people I met through PAIRWN and having mentors that would happily give me advice. It was very inspiring to meet so many people who had overcome of trials and came out as strong individuals. Being part of PAIRWN has helped me to grow as a person and has helped prepare me for life beyond college.”
