Survivor Empowerment Circles
A free, confidential, and culturally supportive space for immigrant and refugee women who are survivors of domestic violence or sexual assault.
What is Survivor Empowerment Circles?
PAIRWN’s Survivor Empowerment Circles provide a safe, confidential space for immigrant and refugee women who have experienced domestic violence or sexual assault. Facilitated by life coaches, these circles support women in building the self-sufficiency, confidence, and skills they need to move forward on their own terms.
For immigrant and refugee women, surviving abuse comes with unique challenges: fear of deportation, language barriers, economic dependence, and cultural pressures that can make it feel impossible to seek help. Our circles are specifically designed to meet women where they are. We handle each case with cultural sensitivity, real understanding, and no judgment.
Survivor Empowerment Circles also include our Economic Development program, which helps women build financial self-sufficiency through economic advocacy, job readiness, and opportunities to develop their entrepreneurial skills — including through our Global Marketplace, where women can sell their goods and crafts.
Life Coaching
Sessions are led by PAIRWIN’S life coaches who guide women through setting goals, building confidence, and developing healthy relationships.
Economic Development
Part of our circle supports women in building economic independence — including job readiness, financial literacy, and our Global Marketplace.
Completely Confidential
Everything shared within the circle stays within the circle. This is a private, judgment-free space built on trust.
“It helped me learn to be independent, to recognize that through the adversities of domestic violence, I had a sisterhood that embraced me in all aspects of my life.”
— Nelsy Acosta, PAIRWN participant
